Pavilion of Praise Christian Church Core Beliefs
Bible
- The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of GOD. It is the supreme master guide for all matters relating to faith and its practice. In it, we discover God’s revelation of Himself, His story, His plan and purpose for all mankind throughout the ages. (II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:3, 21; Psalm 107:20-21)
God
- The one true and living GOD is triune, co-existing in three persons – the Father, the Son (Who is the Word made flesh) and the Holy Ghost. GOD is totally and eternally loving, holy, righteous, all-powerful, all wise, present everywhere; the Creator, Ruler and Redeemer of all mankind and the entire universe. GOD, the Father, is the head among equals of the Trinity. (I Corinthians 11:1-3; John 14:16)
Jesus Christ
- Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was and is the true and only Messiah (the Christ), begotten and sent of GOD, the Father. He lived a perfectly sinless life and died on the Cross as the only acceptable substitute and sacrifice for the sins of every person. (John 1:1-14; Luke 1:26-35; II Corinthians 5:18-21)
- He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of GOD the Father, reigning and interceding as our risen Lord, coming King, and loving High Priest and Advocate. He is the fullness of the Godhead bodily, the head of the Church, and superior in rank and strength to all principalities and powers. (Philippians Chapter 2; Hebrews Chapters 1 & 2; Colossians 1:15-20, 2:9)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the absolute and essential deity, and in the personality of the Holy Spirit
- We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is given to believers. (Acts 11:16; Acts 1:8)
- Among other manifestations, the Holy Spirit convicts, draws, enlightens, in-dwells, guides, teaches and empowers the born-again believer to intimately communicate with and know the Lord and to consistently glorify Jesus Christ (John Chapters 14, 15 & 16; I Corinthians Chapters 12, 13 & 14).
Mankind
We believe that Adam was divinely created in the image of God. (Genesis 3)
- Sin and Evil entered the world as we know it when the first man in the Garden of Eden committed high treason by disobeying God.
- The result was the separation of man from the acceptable and proper relationship previously known and experienced
- That all men therefore are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death
Salvation
- Salvation is God’s granting of deliverance from the guilt and penalties of sin, the power of sin in the present, and ultimately the presence of sin in heaven. (Hebrews 7:25, Revelation 21:1-8)
- Salvation comes only through repentance, claiming and relying solely upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His work accomplished through the shedding of His blood at Calvary and His resurrection. (Ephesians 2:1-9; Romans 10:8-13; Titus 3:5-7; John 5:24)
